The Fair Credit Billing Act

The Fair Credit Billing Act requires creditors to promptly investigate disputed charges on credit card billing statements and fix mistakes without affecting a consumer's credit rating. In which of these situations does this law apply?

  1. When you forget to make a monthly payment

  2. When you know your monthly payment is going to be late

  3. When someone made unauthorized charges on your credit card

"C" is correct. The law also applies when charges list the wrong date and time, when charges are made for goods and services you didn't accept or that weren't delivered as promised, when charges you contested remain unresolved, if the creditor fails to promptly post payments, returns, and other credits, or has made errors calculating your charges and interest.
