How the CARD Act Affects Young Adults

The CARD Act also includes several protections for underage consumers. Which of these apply if you're under 21 years of age?

  1. You will not be allowed to sign up for a credit card.

  2. You can now qualify for credit cards with high balance limits.

  3. You will have to show proof of income or have a co-signer to open a credit card account.

"C" is correct. If you have a co-signer, you must obtain their written approval to increase your credit limit. Rules also restrict how credit card companies market on college campuses. Now we'll learn how to select a credit card.
