What Is Your Credit Report?

Your credit rating is based upon your credit report. This written record documents how you’ve paid bills and other debts in the past. Your credit report relies on information that’s been gathered from many sources by one of the three major credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, or TransUnion. How often can you request and review a free copy of your credit report from each of the major companies?

  1. Every 12 months.
  2. Every six months.
  3. Every three months.

“A” is correct. Request copies by visiting www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the only website authorized to perform this service. Credit reports from the three major companies usually contain similar information, so you may want to stagger your requests to each throughout the year.
