Credit Card Fees

Beyond interest, credit cards may also charge other fees. Which of these is a common credit card fee?

  1. Cash advance fee - This fee is charged to the account when you use the card to obtain cash instead of making a purchase.
  2. Balance-transfer fee - This fee is charged if you transfer a balance from one card to another.
  3. Late payment fee - This fee is charged if your monthly payment arrives after the due date.

These are ALL standard credit card fees. Some cards also charge an annual fee, which you pay simply to have the card. If you make purchases beyond your credit limit, you will probably be charged an over-the-credit-limit fee. Promotional fees may be lower than those charged later. Before choosing a card, take a look at the fees that may apply. Also be aware that fees can change at any time with notice, and your only choice will be to accept the change or close your account.
