Going Green on Transportation

If you attend college away from home, think twice before bringing your car to school. Space on campus is usually limited. If you live in the dorms, you probably will have to pay to park your car. If you live off-campus, driving to school each day will still cost you gas and the time it takes to find a parking spot. How can you save money and the environment -- and still make it to class?

  1. Walk, bike, skateboard, or roller blade to class.
  2. Invest in a bus or subway pass.
  3. Carpool with a classmate.

ALL of these strategies will leave your wallet and the planet a whole lot greener! Foot and bike power are likely to leave you healthier, too. If you decide to live off campus, choose an apartment close to school, so you can limit commuting or public transportation costs.
