Tough Financial Decisions

Students and their families often find it hard to estimate how much money will be needed for college. That’s because the decisions you make, such as where to go to school and where you’ll live while you’re there, affect how much you will ultimately pay. Before you make these financial choices, what do you need to ask?

  1. What do I want to do for the rest of my life?
  2. How much can I afford to pay for college?
  3. Where can I get all the financing I need?

“B” is correct. It’s good to have hopes and dreams, but it also pays to be realistic. Before you lock into a specific school or major, take a look at the financial resources you have on hand. Also research the economic outlook for the career you’re considering. Don’t take out a student loan unless you have a clear repayment plan.
