Why Save for Retirement?

If you haven’t begun to invest for retirement, it’s time to do so. According to a recent Department of Labor study, why is it vital for women to have a financial plan?

  1. On average, women at age 65 can expect to live another 19 years -- three years longer than men of the same age.
  2. By and large, women invest more conservatively than men, and as a result, may limit the amount of wealth they build.
  3. Women are more likely than men to work part-time jobs and interrupt their careers to take care of family members, thereby ultimately working fewer years and contributing less to their retirement funds.

ALL of these statements are true. Of the 62 million U. S. working women polled, only 45 percent took part in a retirement fund.
