What If You Fall Victim?
If you believe you already are a victim of a foreclosure prevention scam, what should you do?
- Tell your local bank branch to put a flag on your checking account.
- Contact your state Attorney General’s office.
- Call and ask your lender to cancel your mortgage.
“B” is correct. The National Association of Attorneys General has a state-by-state Attorney General contact location map on its homepage. Also contact the FTC and the Better Business Bureau to file complaints against the company that scammed you.
