If You Get Scammed

If you believe you’ve fallen victim to reverse mortgage fraud, what’s the best thing to do?

1. Keep it to yourself so you won’t feel so stupid.
2. Chalk this up as another lesson from the “school of hard knocks.”
3. File a complaint.

“C” is correct. At a minimum, this may help keep the scammer from hurting other people. To file a complaint, submit your information through the FBI’s electronic tip line or your local FBI office. You also can call HUD-OIG’s free hotline at 1-800-347-3735.
