When you identify your student loans and check their grace periods, also find out where to send payments. Most payments for Direct loans go to the Direct Loan Servicing Center. Perkins loans are paid to your school. It may be harder to establish who handles payments for FFELP and private loans. Why is this true?

1. Student loans may be resold by loan originators on secondary markets.
2. All student loan payments have to be reviewed by the government.
3. Student loan agreements never include repayment information.

"A" is correct. Lenders may also transfer payment collection to third parties. If this happens, you should receive a written notice. Still don't know who to pay? Check to see if you were mailed a notice, call the original lender, or look on your credit report.
