Identity Theft

What Is Identity Theft?

Types of Information that Identity Thieves Steal

Identity thieves look for personal information that will allow them to use your identity or financial accounts. This includes:

  • Your name, date of birth, and address.
  • Your Social Security number.
  • Your bank, credit card, loan, or mortgage account or PIN number.
  • Your drivers' license number.
  • Your employee ID number.
  • Your computer passwords or PIN numbers.

It is much easier to protect your personal information than to deal with the negative consequences after it's been stolen.
