Maintenance Magic

Skipping regularly scheduled maintenance visits is one way to "drive" your car into an early grave. Become familiar with your owner's maintenance manual and follow the schedule it recommends. Also spend time educating yourself on the inner workings of your car. Use the Internet to research your car's make and model and to learn about recalls and common fixes. Which of these practices is likely to save you money in the end?

  1. Make sure system elements such as the air filter, oil and oil filter, transmission fluid, and fuel filter are checked and replaced as needed.
  2. Check and keep your tires inflated to the proper pressure.
  3. Stop and start smoothly to save wear on the engine and brakes.

These are ALL wise practices. Remember: An ounce of prevention costs less than a pound of repair!
