Choosing a Qualified Mechanic
As a car owner, you need to locate a reasonable, competent, honest mechanic. Which of these steps makes it easier to select the right person for the job?
- Look for someone who is pleasant and courteous.
- Ask your dealership who they recommend.
- Ask your family and friends who they recommend and why.
"C" is correct. Also check online referrals for mechanics in your area. Begin your search before you actually need help, so you aren't forced to choose in desperation. Don't make a decision based on personality. Check if the mechanic has worked on your type of car and if the shop has posted its business license, ASE certification, and training diplomas. Get work estimates from several shops instead of going directly to the dealership, where prices are likely to be higher.
