Your Credit Report and You
The company that finances your car loan will check your credit report to see if you qualify for a loan. What they find may also affect the terms you receive. How can you be sure the information they obtain is correct?
- Ask your bank or credit union if they consider you a good credit risk.
- Ask your employer if it's received negative information about you.
- Request and review a copy of your credit report 60 days in advance.
"C" is correct. This will give you time to dispute any errors you find. The three major credit reporting companies -- Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion -- are each required to provide you with one free credit report every 12 months.
