Your Credit Report and You

The company that finances your car loan will check your credit report to see if you qualify for a loan. What they find may also affect the terms you receive. How can you be sure the information they obtain is correct?

  1. Ask your bank or credit union if they consider you a good credit risk.
  2. Ask your employer if it's received negative information about you.
  3. Request and review a copy of your credit report 60 days in advance.

"C" is correct. This will give you time to dispute any errors you find. The three major credit reporting companies -- Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion -- are each required to provide you with one free credit report every 12 months.
